Press Release
Since Gareth Buxton quite literally came crashing into the art world in 2004 after a near head-on collision with a truck he has made a name for himself as an incredibly talented painter of atmospherically charged vistas of misty cliff tops and stormy seascapes that have captured the imagination of viewers in his now native Derbyshire.
“Gareth’s work quickly found a following at Tarpey Gallery since he entered our first Midlands Open 2009. It is with great pleasure we announce his second solo show at Tarpey Gallery”
Luke Tarpey, Gallery Director
Tarpey Gallery is looking forward to welcoming Gareth back for what will be his largest and most exciting solo exhibition to date. This new body of work will again take the viewer on a journey through rain soaked mountain tops, summer Moorland’s, moonlit walks and violent seas.
“Elements like the wind, rain, dark skies; the moon and the light bursting through the clouds move me profoundly. Landscape painting for me goes beyond literal representation of the land: it’s as much about representing me and my state of mind.”
Gareth Buxton
The exhibition will be supported by a selection of work by a number of our represented artists in our second and upstairs gallery space.
