Artist Statement

My recent sculptures are abstract in concept. Surface, form, texture, plane, projection and recession, and negative space are critical visual elements in my sculpture. My ideas germinate from a range of visual sources such as unearthed and archeological forms, natural forms and the wider landscape. Much of my recent work is in bronze where an interest in patinated ageing surfaces reacts against highly polished surfaces. Other recent sculpture has been produced in aluminium, using sand casting techniques, acrylic carvings and Carrara marble.
The historical influences on my work stem from First and Second Generation British sculptors and the sculptures of Constantin Brancusi.

Research and drawing play pivotal roles in the development of my sculpture . Relief and mixed media drawings, with plaster masters and maquettes clarify and resolve my sculpture
Sculptures and flatwork are in private collections in London, Australia, and in the midland and north regions of England.
