Tarpey Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of new work by Andrew Bird. Based in Derbyshire, and a frequent visitor to Cornwall, Andrew finds inspiration from both of these places.
“I love the hustle and bustle of harbours and coastal life, as well as the rugged nature of the landscapes of Derbyshire and Cornwall” – Andrew Bird
A graduate of Graphic Design at Sheffield and later Fine Art at Bradford. Andrew has found using these different areas of discipline in his work useful to explore and simplify the visual content of his paintings. Paul Rand, world renowned graphic designer, famously said ‘Art is an Idea that has found it’s perfect form’ and in these new works Andrew has produced some beautifully crafted pieces where form and content find a balance, rhythm and sense of movement.
“We are excited to be showing Andrew Bird’s new body of work at Tarpey Gallery, and are looking forward to introducing our audience to an extremely talented artist” – Luke Tarpey, Gallery Director
A sideshow exhibition of new work by Clay Smith will also be on display in the second gallery space, which will back up the Derby based artists involvement in the prestigious biennial Format Festival.
